🏆 Slimbook receives the AJEV 2025 Award
for Internationalization granted by Cámara Valencia

“It is the year 2025 A.D. All the face of the Earth is occupied by the Romans… All of it? No! A village inhabited by indomitable Linux users resists, still and always, the invader…”

That’s how our story could begin. Because in a world dominated by tech giants, at Slimbook we’ve spent ten years proving that there is another way of doing things: designing and assembling computers from Valencia, betting on free software, and exporting our ideas far beyond our borders.

Today we are extremely excited to announce that we have been awarded the Internationalization Award – Cámara Valencia at the AJEV 2025 Awards. A recognition that feels like a warm embrace after the long journey from that “village” where we started assembling computers almost by hand, to the company that now sells and supports customers across half the world.

Ten years taking our “village” beyond our borders

When we started, many thought that manufacturing computers with preinstalled Linux, betting on open source, and standing up to the big manufacturers was practically crazy.

Ten years later:

  • Our equipment travels all across Europe, the United States, Latin America, and other international markets.

  • We provide support in several languages and ship Slimbooks to companies, universities, public administrations, and individual users seeking a different alternative.

  • We continue assembling from Valencia, taking care of every detail, but with our eyes clearly set on the world.

For us, internationalizing has not only been about “exporting boxes”, but about turning a local idea into a global project without giving up our values.

An international community that helped us grow

This award is also for all the people and projects we collaborate with outside our borders. Among them:

  • KDE e.V., with whom we have launched several generations of the KDE Slimbook.

  • Fedora Project, with certified devices designed to make the most of their ecosystem.

  • GNOME Foundation, supporting and highlighting their work on the Linux desktop.

  • Manjaro, one of the distributions we collaborate with and that many users choose for their gaming computers.

And of course, for the free software communities and developers who make it possible for our computers to reach the world with open, powerful systems that respect the user.

Thank you for these ten years

We want to thank:

  • The Slimbook team, who has grown with us and keeps giving their all so that every order arrives perfectly.

  • Our customers, who trusted a brand “from the terreta” when they could have chosen any international giant.

  • Our international partners and distributors, who have bet on taking Slimbook to new countries and markets.

  • Former members and friends, some of whom started as customers or Linux Center friends but have always recommended us.

  • And, of course, AJEV and Cámara Valencia for this Internationalization Award, which for us is much more than a trophy: it’s a push to keep growing.

Looking to the future: the adventure continues

This recognition arrives just as we celebrate our 10th anniversary, and we take it as a comma, not a period. We want to continue being that “village of indomitable Linux users” that:

  • designs and assembles computers from Valencia,

  • collaborates with major international free software communities,

  • and proves that you can compete globally without abandoning your own way of understanding technology.

Thank you for joining us during these ten years.
We are sure the best part of the adventure is still yet to come. 💙💻🌍
