Inconsistent keyboard backilght state

Avatar

Hi,

The keyboard backlight state on boot is inconsistent on my EVO 15 running Slimbook OS GNOME, especially if its charge state changes in between boots. Sometimes it boots with the keyboard lit up, but sometimes it's off. Note that I always have the backlight on when using the laptop, so it always shuts down in an on state.

Even weirder : when it boots with the lights off, it then requires two presses of Fn+F7 to actually turn it on. The first press does nothing, and the second one brings it to the dimmest of the two settings. Afterwards, using the key combination works as expected and cycles between the three states with just one press.

I've tried to look online for settings to force the state to on by default in software, and everything seemed to point back to the leds present in /sys/class/leds
I tried every device listed there with commands like :

echo 0 | sudo tee /sys/class/leds/input3\:\:numlock/brightness

and this one  works, it changes the state of the numlock LED without changing the actual numlock state (the two become coherent again simply after pressing the numlock key twice)Unfortunately, I tried every led listed in /sys/class/leds but none of them changed the keyboard backlight. I know the Fn+F7 keypress is at least received by the OS since I get the little OSD icon showing up.

Is the keyboard backlight control somewhere else ?

Thanks
