Countries Covered
In this column, we will explain how VAT is applied to orders destined for European Union countries. By default, the VAT corresponding to the destination country will be added.
For European companies, if they have a valid VAT number and are registered as a B2B Company, a 0% VAT will be applied.
EUROPEAN UNION COUNTRIES
France (20%)
**IMPORTANT:** A 0% VAT is applied to orders for these countries, although it is important to note that the customs authorities of the destination country may require the payment of local taxes or duties according to their regulations.
Buying from outside the EU, Slimbook will deduct the VAT(21%) from your invoice. However, it is the customer's responsibility to pay any local taxes and duties claimed by the customs office at the destination in order to release the package.
EXAMPLES WITH REAL CASES
CASE: UNITED KINGDOM (UK)
Orders > £135
CASE: UNITED STATES (USA)
When the sales department detects an order destined for the United States, the customer is informed in advance about the customs situation and the possible taxes, duties, and fees that may be required in the destination country, so they can expressly confirm whether they wish to proceed with the order.
Once the order reaches customs, the authorities or the shipping company contact the recipient directly to collect the corresponding amounts. In some cases, the customer decides at that moment not to accept the order, rejecting both the payment of customs charges and the release of the package for delivery, which causes the shipment to be returned to the origin.
This situation generates additional costs for which Slimbook will not be responsible. These amounts, together with the cost of the initial shipment, will be deducted from the order refund.
In real cases, these additional costs have reached amounts *between 400 and 500 dollars*
