Battery integrity over time

Hello,


I have had my Executive 16 for about 2 years. I generally keep it plugged in and on nearly all the time. Due to this the battery capacity is now only 30% after just 2 years. So  I only get about 1 hour out of the battery.


I have just bought a new battery and want to make it last much longer when I replace it.


I have installed the Slimbook battery application (which uses tlp) on my Fedora install, but the limit on charge is not working correctly.

It notifies me that it has reached the charge level, let's say 80%, then it flicks between full-charged and charging until it slowly gets back up to 100%.

What are my options here?


Should I be posting directly on the Slimbook Battery github repo? ( there doesn't seem much activity there)


Any other advice on how to maintain a healthy battery on the slimbook?

Ok, after reading some of the other threads here, it seems I have to enable the threshold in the BIOS, which I have now done. and it seems to work correctly.

I also tried manually in tlp but it my machine doesn't have the required config file in /sys/class/power_supply/BAT0/

I feel this should be exposed in the Slimbook battery app.
